FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Legacy is a two-year capital campaign to raise $10 million needed to construct a new facility across Knickerbocker Road with a larger auditorium, additional kids ministry space, and more room for smaller groups to meet.
The total cost of this new facility is estimated to be $27 million. Through the generosity of Glen Meadows members in the past, we had $17 million toward this initiative already. With the pledges we've received through Legacy (over $13 million as of December 2024), we exceeded our financial goal!
The building team is finalizing the plans for the new building and we will share updates as they become available.
There is an urgency to the Legacy campaign. We are out of space in our current building. We are already running three services each Sunday, which is not ideal. Not only that, but these services are quickly becoming full.
There are new people coming to Glen Meadows every weekend—if we run out of room, people will not be able to hear the life-changing message of Jesus. We need to begin building in the spring of 2025 to make room for the people God will bring to Glen Meadows in the future.
This is the same kind of giving campaign previous generations of Glen Meadows have participated in—they gave before they knew your name. Their giving is what has provided our current facility where you and your family worship and connect with other followers of Jesus. Now it’s our turn to give on behalf of those who aren’t here yet.
Yes! Our building committee is working on the full details of the master plan, but this new building is a central and critical part of that long-term plan.
It will continue to be used in many of the same ways it is now. Joy School (our preschool that uses the facility during the week) will continue to use the facility. The student ministry will also continue to use this facility, both during the week and for special events on weekends.
Many of the adult education spaces will also continue to be used throughout the week for various small and medium-sized gatherings. In phase one, the administration offices will also remain in the current building.
First and foremost, we ask that you pray about what God wants you to do. Each of us should be open and expecting to hear what God is asking us to do … and be ready to respond with faith and obedience.
Second, we are asking you to pray for the ongoing blessing of God to be on all of Glen Meadows—our leaders, our staff, our volunteers, our students and kids, and everyone who participates in our ministry environments each week. Also, pray that God will continue to draw those from our community who need to hear the good news of Jesus.
Third, decide to make a commitment of what you will give financially (in addition to your normal giving to Glen Meadows) to support the Legacy effort to make room for God’s continued work through us to serve San Angelo.
It will take all of us working together, in all three of these areas, to accomplish that. Hundreds of us have already submitted Legacy intention cards—but there's more work to be done! We would love for you to be a part of Legacy, too.
We are asking everyone to make a two-year (26-month) commitment. The fulfillment period for your commitment will begin on Sunday, November 10, and it will culminate in December of 2026.
Legacy is about the vision for our church and our personal discipleship in giving as followers of Jesus. We believe that the local church is one of the most compelling missions to give toward, and we would really love for you to make Glen Meadows your church home and join us in the Legacy initiative.
Beyond praying and giving throughout the next two years, you may have stored resources that God has blessed you with in the past that He might be calling you to give during this time.
Please let us know if you need assistance with facilitating gifts of property or stock, and we would be happy to help you. You can email our Finance Office at finance@gmbc.org. Someone from that team will be able to assist with all such gifts.
Based on what we know right now regarding the estimated cost of the building, previous cash on hand, and pledges toward Legacy, we should be able to build phase one of the building as described in the Legacy brochure without taking on debt. There is a small chance we may need to obtain a construction loan during the building process, but that will not be long-term debt.
It will take all of us who are a part of Glen Meadows working together through faith-filled sacrificial generosity to fulfill this vision for the future.
Previous generations made similar kinds of sacrifices to resource the spaces we enjoy today. They didn’t know you, but they sacrificed to make room for you. Now it’s our turn to do the same for the people we want to reach.
